I think that surname is all over.  To get to Hawaii, you had to sail out of
Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel island.  I've typed the proper spelling (minus
the diacritic over the "a" in Sao) and you should spell it that way in your
genealogy program.  The Passaportes for the 1890s will tell you the
freguesia.

Emigration OUT of Ponta Delgada exists on the CCA site (passaportes).

Pick Ponta Delgada from the drop down menu.
Pick the range that covers 1895.
Start the hunt!
