According to Genealogias das Quatro Ilhas (Vol. 4, Forjaz and Mendes) João Silveira Nepomuceno Vila Lobos was born in Matriz, 16-5-1831 and died on 24-4-1908 in Candelária do Pico. His parents were Fransisco Silveira Vilalobos and Maria Isabel. His paternal grandparents were Francisco Silveira Vilalobos and Maria Cipriana de Sequeira and his grandfather was the son of Francisco da Silveira Vila Lobos and Águeda Bernarda de Jesus, himself son of António da Silveira Vila Lobos and Maria Ana Furtado de Mendonça. That Vila Lobos line goes back to 1583 and of course other lines go back much further.
I did not find any connection to the Count of Armante. The first Count was Francisco da Silveira Pinto da Fonseca Teixeira (1763-1821).(See Nobreza de Portugal e do Brasil) Let me know if you have other information that might help establish the link.
