Yes you first have to remove your old tree.
Start by making a new Gedcom and note its location on the computer. I always send it to my desktop so it is easy to find. Log on to Family tree DNA and on your home page go on the blue bar click "My Account" then click "Gedcom/Family Tree" on the next page you will see two options "view your Pedigree Chart" and "Delete your Pedigree Chart" by clicking "Delete your Pedigree chart" this will remove your tree. The site will automatically change the page where you can load your new tree. You will have to browse to locate your gedcom (this is where saving it on your desktop is handy) once your gedcom is loaded you have to choose the home person for your tree once that is done the screen will go back to the screen with "view your pedigree Chart" and "Delete your pedigree chart" I always go and view it to make sure it is right. I have been wanting to update my family tree for a while now.( i kinda forget how) so I was scared to mess anything up. Do I have to remove the old tree first and then figure out how to put the new Gedcom on? Once you get your results the real fun begins when you try and find a common ancestor for your matches. The Family Tree DNA has many useful tools but the most important one to put a name on a match is the Gedcom posted with your family tree. The tree which your Gedcom posts on The Family Tree DNA is a very basic tree. The information that is posted from your tree gives is your ancestors NAME, DATE OF BIRTH, LOCATION, DATE OF DEATH, and LOCATION. When I look at a person's tree I look at the locations to see if there is a location we have in common. I do this because family names in the Acores is not as important as in other cultures but once you find a common location then you look for a common name. With the CCA ( http://www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt/ig/ ) publishing the records from the Acores on line, researching and finding ancestors to fill you tree is convenient although not necessarily easy. But working with this list help is always available and to complement the saying "many hands make light work" we can add "many eyes make reading easy". While not all the records are on line presently the CCA is making an effort to get them up as quickly as possible. Like many others on this list I am waiting for the Vila do Franco Campo records to complete my connections there and help find matches that I suspect will be found once they are posted. I was reminded a couple of weeks ago that my father's tree which is on Family Tree DNA needed updating. I had first posted the tree when he was first took the MtDNA test several years ago. At that time you posted your male line and female line separately and so my father's tree only consisted on his female line. In the mean time we upgraded my father's tree to the Family finder but failed to post his male line. Family Tree DNA has since changed their site so you only post one tree which includes both male and female lines. I have since posted the entire tree of my father to make more information on the site. Hopefully the information I have provided will assist someone looking for a match. This past week I got hot on the trail of some ancestors and was able to add some more names to my tree and go back a few more generations. I made a new Gedcom and then posted the updated information on family tree site. You should do this every time you add direct line names to your tree. Oh one more thing if you have not posted your tree and do so now you get a $10 coupon to use when purchasing a DNA test from Family tree DNA. So if you talk Aunt Martha in to taking a DNA test over the holidays you can get an additional $10 of the sale price. This applies if you update your tree from the old separate male and female tree to a combined tree. Also you do not have to have a complete tree to post just post what you have now and you can always update you tree later when you add more names. Also remember your project administrators are able to assist you in posting your tree and answer any questions.
