Maria Elena, Expostos are orphans, foundlings, basically abandoned at birth. The record many times will state where the baby was left (at the "roda" which is the "wheel," similar to a Lazy Susan where people opened a little door to the church, put their offering on the roda, and spun it inside the church). The record may state that the baby was given to so-and-so as well.
