The two Vicente Furtado's are uncle and nephew. José Furtado, the father of the Vicente Furtado who married Micaela de Jesus, is the son of Mateus de Sousa and Maria Furtado, my ancestors. José Furtado had a brother named Vicente Furtado, as well. I am a direct descendant of this José Furtado's brother, Vicente Furtado, who married Ana Furtado on 20 aug 1781 in Matriz de Vila Franca.
Though I have other Furtado's lineages, Vicente Furtado who m. Ana Furtado is the one who brought to me my Furtado surname that goes back to Aleixo Furtado and Maria Curvelo, residents of Ponta Garça in the early 1600's.
