I could use some help understanding the godparent situation in this
baptismal record. Joao Jose Botelho, son of Jose Francisco Botelho and
Genoveva Rosa becomes the brother-in-law of this Francisca when she
eventually weds Jose Francisco Botelho (Jr) in 1834. I don't have the
baptismal record for Joao Jose Botelho, yet, but I believe he is close in
age to this Francisca because Joao and his wife have children born at the
same time as Francisca and Jose Francisco Botelho Jr. Was it common to name
children as godparents?
