BTW, I think the Excel columns are where you type the data that you're transcribing from the original document. Note that there's no OCR involved, it's just a nice UI where you have both the image of the original and the spreadsheet open in the same window. OCR on paleographic documents is an advanced PhD thesis subject (or even a multi-year project for a team of PhDs).
