Tony,

It's a mixture of "important" families and not so "important." Maybe a better term should be "leading" families.

Like always, verify everything you can, because I found major mistakes on Simas in Pico and Rocha in Terceira and I don't have them, so can't check other chapters. I paid for them years ago and they just kept my money, so I'm not the most happy of customers.

Hi Doug,

Yeah I am stuck in the late 1600's. Not specifically trying to connect to this Antonio Catalao, just using him as a possible lead if the trail dries up on Terceira. Of course even if my Corvello's did originate on Santa Maria who knows if they didn't  migrate to another ilha before arriving on Terceira. Ah this genealogy is fun.

Do you know the volumes Genealogia da da Ilha Terceira ? Do they only cover nobility or important families ? I know they have a copy at the Freitas ( I think thats the name) library in San Leandro,I am thinking of taking a look at them in April while I am up in Hayward for JoaƵ Ventura's clinics.
