hahaha. I mentioned this to my Mexican co-worker after I responded here. And when I revealed the entire name (I'm surprised that this time I remembered from memory) I explained that I worked in a building that listed the ENTIRE name. The whole thing was written in Spanish & in English. Not sure if that was something used in a proclamation or not.
But my co-worker revealed that she does remember the old movies that referred to LA as "El Pueblo." That was when it was part of Mexico, and of course before that part of Spain.
