Hi Lyn I was able to see the image in the link. I have a lot of research on Ponta Delgada das Flores, but usually the coverage is more extensive in the 1700s, as it narrows down to my wife's ancestors who were born there in the 1950s.
First of all, if you're doing research in Flores, have you bought the "Casais das Flores e do Corvo" ebook, already? If not, do so immediately. Trust me, you will not regret it. The book is in Portuguese, but it's mainly a list of names and dates. It should take about 5 minutes to learn all the Portuguese you need to use it. Second, what are the names of the parents of the José that you're searching for? There's about 3 José's baptised just in those two pages..
