This study indicates to me one can't draw too many conclusions from small samples, the results for the island of Pico are a perfect example the results of those in the Azores DNA Project claiming Pico ancestry is in contradiction for the most part to this study. With the Project showing high frequencies of K, T2, and L2 and the study indicating K, U5, J2b and L3e. The study only used 23 samples from Pico and a total of 292 from the Azores, perhaps in a few years we will see studies which include several hundred samples from each island. It would also be very helpful if more people listed the island of their most distant known maternal and paternal ancestors in the Azores DNA Project.
