My Grandfather Louis Ferreira Costa, born in Santa Barbara, Terceira in 1882, his father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather, all believed born in Terceira were given the middle name Ferreira. What was the significance of the Ferriera name in the Costa family.
I found that Louis's grandfather Jose Ferriera da Costa married Marianna Augusta Linhares in 1849, she was the daughter of Mattheus Linhares and Maria Victorina Ferreira, born 1787, Maria's father was Antonio Ferreira, born 1761.
