I couldn't easily find the answer to my quandary on the Family Finder DNA website or Forum so I hope some knowledgeable person can provide an answer. I was contacted by a gentleman in Brazil who had a shared cM of 41.15 with a projected relationship of 3rd to 5th cousin. to my husband. His Portuguese ancestry is only on his mother's side. However, she only shares 26.39 cM with a projected relationship of 5th to remote cousin. My husband's father is of 19th century immigrant German and old New England ancestry. The Brazilian knows of only Portuguese and Spanish ancestry though there is a family tradition of Jewish ancestry. What are the possible scenarios here?
