Thank you to everyone who has been sending me their unused Mystery Rewards codes. Keep them coming. I believe I am caught up on them. If you requested a code and I did not answer you, that was not my intent. Email me again. I currently have a lot of the $10 off codes. The $20 or $25 off are more difficult to find. So far, no one (in the Azores project or in the DNA community) has found one of the $49 off a Family Finder test.
General DNA questions: It took me 2 days, but I believe I have caught up with all the questions. Here's some of what I'm getting. 1) Question: I don't know what DNA test to order. Answer: Order Family Finder. 2) Question: Do I test myself or my sibling (or cousin or or or)? (this would be with a Family Finder test) Answer: If it is in your budget, test both of you. You may have inherited a different 1.5% of DNA from that ancestor 200 years ago than your sibling inherited. Therefore, you and your sibling will have different DISTANT cousin matches. Also, you'll be able to figure out matches easier using you and your sibling, you and your first cousin, etc. (Note: I will find you a code for each test you order). 3) Question: I don't know if I should test my DNA or not. My genealogy is done and I don't have anything to contribute. Answer: Yes you do have something to contribute. Test your DNA. It's like leaving a legacy. Since the Family Finder test is like a 1000 piece puzzle, we need all 1000 pieces to put it together. You may have pieces 150-200 in your DNA and you could be the person that helps us link lines together. Then there are the specific DNA questions about getting to the lineage of a particular ancestor. If you email me and don't get a response back soon enough (within a day), go ahead and email Rick, Nancy Jean, or Kalani. Just let them know you emailed me too and I haven't answered. Due to work schedule this month, I may take more than a day to answer questions, especially if you are emailing on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. This will clear up on Dec. 18th for me.
