Joam is an earlier spelling of Joao. There was a time period when you would
see both spellings for the same person depending on who wrote the document.

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Joao/Joam

The names of one set of my 6X great grandparents is Joao Ignacio & Marianna
Francisca. I have been trying to find their daughter Francica Rosa (5X ggm) and
any siblings baptismo records and have noticed a few records listing the father
as Joam Ignacio. Just wondering how often (if any) they were switched?
