Wow - I am glad I came across this post. I have just started researching my husband's ancestry, and he connects to this line also. Thanks for attaching the information you had to this family, I cannot wait to start looking into it more closely.
I have Jose Soares Carneiro married to Maria Rebello as my husband's 6th great grandparents. Rick Pimentel recently pointed me to their marriage record in 1734, but the parent's names were cut off and all I could gather was that Jose's father's name began with an M and his mother was Maria Soares. http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-ND-ACHADA-C-1733-1755/SMG-ND-ACHADA-C-1733-1755_item1/P5.html bottom right This seems to fit with Manoel Rebello and Maria Soares as his parents, especially with the son Jose having the surname as Soares Carneiro similar to Manoel and Maria's other children mentioned in this thread. I know this thread is some months old,but I have information on Jose Soares Carneiro and Maria Rebello's son Antonio Soares Rebello if anyone would like it. I did not see Antonio mentioned in the family line yet from the posts above.
