Eddie: This shows a Catherine Cardoza buried in 1881 with husband buried in
1923 at Lady of Pillar in Half Moon Bay. If this is your Cardoza it would
explain death in Hayward yet burial in Half Moon Bay in a pre-existing plot.
Paperwork for either burial might have place of birth/baptism on Pico.

Hi Celeste,
Manuel Cardoza did die in Hayward on that date, but he was buried in Half Moon
Bay in Our Lady of Pillar cemetery. I wonder why he came up being there?
Unfortunately no one has the local paper for 1923. It is MIA at all the
libraries.

I found a Manuel Cardoza listed in the Mt. St. Joseph cemetery records in
Hayward. He died May 22, 1923 and was buried on May 23, 1923. He was 85 years
old. No grave site is listed and no other information is listed in any of the
records I have. You may try to search the newspaper for Hayward during that
time. Celeste Perry [email protected]
