I was wondering if anyone knew if records existed for those who were apppointed or became part of the Military or Governing bodies in the Azores? I have severall ancestors who were listed as either Alferes, Saargento, or Capitao, primarily from Graciosa, but a few other Islands, and I wanted to see if separate records existed for noting those appointments?
It seems like something that would have been recorded.I know that there are The De Genere Papers for the Priests, so maybe there is something similar for the Military or other government positions. I would be interested in the 1700s-1800's but earlier or later would also be interesting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe Joao Ventura or someone else might have some insight.
