There are also many people that have joined that have partial Azorean
ancestry which creates for a collection of random DNA samples that isn't
helpful for those trying to gain a better understanding of indigenous
Azorean DNA it is especially evident looking at the MtDNA currently in the
project some it is obvious don't have any connection to the Azores in
particular the Amerindian maternal lines why aren't those filtered out it
just creates confusion. I think the Azores project would be much more
useful if it only included lines indigenous to the Azores. There are DNA
projects that require substantiation that ask one to specify how the
paternal line or maternal line connects to the said country if it doesn't
meet the criteria that the project administrator establishes for
substantiation then that sample isn't accepted. Although I do think that if
they match someone in the project close enough but aren't sure of the place
of origin of their maternal or paternal line they could possible be placed
in a category identifying that they are a close match.
