Unfortunately it is full of factual errors. Note that no where does it state
who the researchers were, only that it was published by the Town of Povoacao on
a very important anniversary: 1944, the 500th anniversary of the founding of
the settlement. So, make sure you verify the information. If the original
records are unavailable, check against Rodrigo Rodrigues and / or Carlos
Machado (neither of whom is infallible). There is nothing more annoying than
having to "saw off" a branch that does not belong to our family tree. I know
from personal experience.

Cheri, download Vuescan, it works with virtually every scanner. If not just
ask the company. But I am sure they have yours in the system. I use it for my
high-end slide and negative scanner. The old drivers were no longer supported.
It works on flatbeds too. https://www.hamrick.com/reg.html
I have to warn you, the book is full of errors and appears to have been
published without proofing. Maybe they rushed it to print.

Manita,
I have it, but it's a photocopy from a public library. My scanner does not work
with this Windows 8 computer :( If you don't find a PDF, I'm willing to copy
and mail if you want to reimburse me.
