An email hack is when someone gains control of your email address. An email spoof is when they use your name, but attach it to a different email addy.
Since my name is out there on the Internet, I get a lot of email spoofs using my name. The last round they used my name and even sent it to my email! I believe they have hacked another list member but use my name (which makes a lot of posts) to entice people to open their link. This is why I sit on my end of the computer, always telling to people to take the time to explain why they are posting a link. People who have been on this a while (or years) know that I try to explain stuff before posting links. I never say "Here's a good article for you," or "Here's something on the Azores." Too vague. I always tell you why I am posting it and what it has to do with genealogy. Now, for those of you who want to read up on hacks vs spoofs, you can do an Internet search or check out email hack or email spoof on Wikipedia.
