Versinha
Hi! I never took French in college but I could understand a little of what
was written. In fact, I have some of those same names in my tree!
Baltazar João Rodriques Versinha was born in 1531 in Braganca, Portugal and
married Anna João Rodrigues (born in 1535). Melchor Rodrigues Versinha was
born in 1557, João Rodrigues Versinha, born in 1531 in Braganca, Portugal
married Anna João Rodrigues (1535-1611). I had gotten the information from
other members in ancestry.com. If the original Portuguese were there, I wasn't
able to read any of it. But some of "my" names were in the French information!
I just noticed that I have some info wrong! Gotta go back and check some
more.

I don't know if the name on your tree is correct without having first seeing
the original document but there is Versinha as a surname and/or nick (alcunha).
I checked the Porto thesaurus and it says it is the feminine diminutive of the
verb Versa. Versa is the resulting effect of the rain or other has on the
fields where all tall grass or crops get bent over.
Further to that there is a book written in French with the title "Des marranes
a Spinoza" where it lists this name. The book talks about crypto - Judaism and
the title "marranes" clearly indicates the content. Here's the link.
