The reference to 1836 is about lent obligations. Bride and groom were both "disobrigado" for the lent of 1836 at this parish and the groom was for the last two also. The bride was "disobrigada" for the last two at Nossa Senhora da Conceicao in the city of Horta. I'm not sure if I am stating this correctly because I am familiar with church practices and am not sure what being disobligated for the last three lents really means; but I know that it is usually stated in these records. Someone in this group posted a record recently that showed a dispensation given so some who had not satisfied this could marry.
