Yes, Denise: That is a great question because I was tracing where my husband's Lima name came from- or at least the first in the Azores I could find. His gr gr gr gr grandmother was Izabel de Lima born in around 1698-1700. Married Manoel da Souza (Tramocinho) sometimes also called Manoel de Souza Oiliveira.
Just last week I posted a question on the List regarding her parents Joao da Costa X Anna Martins. Another lister replied and he said was descended from Joao da Costa X Anna Martins, married in Relva in3 June 1694. He descends through their son Manoel. We corresponded "off list" and he wrote that Joao da Costa also went by Joao da Costa LIMA and perhaps that's where Izabel de Lima picked up the name. I had not seen any record of that in their children's names but it is right there in I could never find Izabel's birth but I found all her siblings. But I have her marriage. I a, now trying to find all her children. So I've seen the name LIMA's in those records but could not link them to Joao da Costa. I'm trying to learn how to open a GEDCOM. I always put everything on familysearch.org.
