(Cross posted to Azores, Madeira, IslandRoutes) The Azores/Portuguese Genealogy Conference and Research Trip will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Plaza Hotel, right next door to the Family History Library. This event will take place on Tuesday, September 6 through Friday, September 9th (Yes, Monday, Sept. 5th is Labor Day in America and many of us will be flying on that day).
We welcome those researching Madeira, Cape Verde, and the continent too! Classes include vital records, censuses, "reading" Portuguese records, and more. We have classes in the computer lab for the CCA or ARM, CITCEM-GHP (formerly NEPS), and the newspaper database. Also included is a new class on unpublished manuscripts (Azores only). Other new classes include more DNA on Thursday, and Find A Grave and Thinking Like Sherlock Holmes on Friday. Every evening and most of the day on Friday will be spent assisting you personally, whether it's helping you with your genealogy, "reading" a record, or getting help with your DNA results. If you have other genealogist friends that would like to go to Salt Lake, but they do not research Portuguese, they can take advantage of our group rate on the hotel rooms of $87 a night (USD + taxes).
