Hi cousin Sallie, Francisco and Maria are my great great grandparents as well (my great grandmother was Amelia (Emma) Josephine Rose). So that would make us 3rd cousins. I have done a good amount of research on our family. I have some insight into the naming you are questioning. The Cultura Azores site is down for me right now so I can't send a link, but Cosme was born 27 Sep 1817 on Graciosa. His mother, Aurelia Rosa, was born there as well. What I know thus far from Francisco's mother's side is that they were primarily from Sao Jorge (Norte Grande and Ribeira Seca) and Pico.
