You have to read the Terms and Conditions very carefully.

The other companies in the article were not around when the Azores project
was founded with Family Tree DNA (FTDNA). FTDNA is very, very ethical and
very upfront about what they are doing. However, I take it you did not test
there. Those who have tested with other companies need to transfer over to
FTDNA or retest there. FTDNA has an office in Switzerland, somewhere in the
Middle East, and in Brasil as well.

Unless I was an adoptee, and I was starting out with DNA testing, I would
only test with FTDNA. Still, many people see the commercials for the other
companies and test there. They have big name recognition. FTDNA does not
have a budget for that!  Note about adoptees: Adoptees though are different
and are stuck, needing to test with all 3 companies.

And we some of these other companies or third party tools come out, I DON'T
jump on it. I wait for others first before recommending things. Let them
figure it out and if it's beneficial or not.
