(Cross posted to Azores, IslandRoutes) For those of you who have tested with Family Tree DNA, please do me a favor.
Log into your kit(s), go to Manage Personal Information, click on the Genealogy tab, then go to Surnames. Now see the attached screen shot. In the surname field, please put what island your ancestors are from. In location, put Azores. I am telling your DNA matches to log into their kits and go to their Family Finder matches, and where it says Ancestral Surnames to type Azores. This helps those with mid-1800s emigration from the Azores with very little paper trail. Some don't have an island. If they type in Azores and see 8 people from Sao Jorge island, for example, they will start to have an idea where in the Azores they came from. Thanks!
