Excellent Lee, you have found the Maria do Carmo grandparents. She has not
godparents because was baptized at home. It's not the rule, but it's
frequent.

There is no mariage of José Simois and Maria Jaquina in S. Mateus. Not also
in the 4 parishes of Angra. You need to find the Josefa Joaquina batism in
S. Mateus (native of S. Mateus, in Maria's batism). With a little chance
(and you have yet a lot of), the origin of the parents is mentionned.
Perhaps they are from another island. Because, no mariage found before 1800
is rarely.
To the batism date, you suppose the Maria's mother was 14-15 years old.
It's possible, but would be exceptional in the Terceira Island before 1850.
She was more probably 20 years or more.
Good chance

Philippe
