1.  if you are a female, an x match to a male means you 

·      relate to the match through his mother. 

·      and it cannot be through your paternal grandfather.   

2.  An x match to a female means 

·      only that you are not related through the match's 

·      paternal grandfather  and your paternal grandfather   

... all the other lines remain in play. 

3.  An x match between 2 males means 

·      the relation is maternal on both sides.
