Much of my information comes from Joao work. I had to use someone else for
Brazil research (to find my Paternal Grandmother's birth record and her
parents marriage record and father's death record). For this researcher I
received other information like she had another sister that died as a baby
and her Grand Uncle was a Wagon Maker but this cost was well over a $1000
and I had to ask Joao to translate it for me. I also had to run much of
the information by Joao because the researcher was not sure it was the
correct family. For less money Joao was able to get the birth, marriage and
death records from my Grandparents through Great Great Grandparents (except
the few that were from USA and Brazil). He also provided digital copies,
text typed in Portuguese and simplified English translations. We went
generation by generation. Later on I purchased a the full tree from him.
Its over 700 pages. Lots of interesting information. After an analysis of
the tree to determine who different parts of my tree are related I'm able
to use this information with the FTDNA information to make those family
connections. I would not be able to do any of this without his work.
Joao's knowledge of Azorean genealogy is amazing. He is so patience with
people. He encourages and supports you in your search. Now I do want to say
that the other research was not helpful. He was. I had tried to leap over
Brazil and research in the Azores first. Big mistake. I was following the
wrong family. Luckily the correct family was related and the other side was
related to another ancestor so I already had the lineage. Lucky me but a
lesson learned. Once I had the right information out of Brazil Joao was
able to get to the correct lineage for me. Now my tree is accurate. Thanks
to Joao.
