(Cross posted to Azores, Madeira, and IslandRoutes lists) When AncestryDNA changed the chip that they use and removed almost half of the markers used for family identification and replaced them with health, the transfers became incompatible in late May 2016. The chips with 23andMe became incompatible in late 2013.
It has taken quite awhile, but they have been able to program the transfers not only of AncestryDNA v.2 chips, but those on 23andMe (v.4 chips). The programming is complete! They are now working on display problems and expect it to take 3-5 weeks. This is coming from I.T. It seems to me that I.T. guys really underestimate their timelines. I'd say 6-10 weeks and double it. So think 2 months or more like early next year. I believe the transfer price will still be $39 USD. It appears that the people who are transferring from the health platforms will have a few less cousins. Almost all of those missing cousins (due to the missing data) will be at the low end - the distant to remote cousin range. And if you want to know if FTDNA will ever get into the health like Ancestry and 23andMe - the answer is no, no, no. Their focus is and always will be genealogy.
