I know a few details from my grandparents on my father's side, but am not being very successful with reading the information.
Perhaps someone can help. My grandfather was named Manuel Souza but perhaps his last name was actually Miguelina. He was born on August 29, 1876 in San Vincente according to marriage records and date on his tombstone. I found a baptismal record that seems like it might be his, but I can barely make out the print. My grandmother, was named Isabel Rocha (perhaps Elizabeth). Born in Santo Antonio on July 4, 1882. Both emigrated to Fall River, but at this point, I would like to figure out more about the name and birth record. Going past that though, whatever advice you can give about researching passport records would greatly be appreciated since all 4 of my grandparents came from Sao Miguel and wound up in the Fall River/New Bedford area. I am finding that most of the people who did that did not go through the port of New York, but I can't find much at all about the port of Boston.
