These are not my people, but I found this record interesting for Ribeira
Quente in 1864: Left page, 12th line down (it's #9, on the page before).

Bride was the widow of Francisco de Sousa, buried above the sea (I guess
means buried at sea), above Cape Verde (altura is height, I see that in the
passaportes, but height of Cape Verde makes no sense), on the day and month
of April, 1861, ..DIGO coming from Rio de Janeiro.. then I think it says it
was verified by witnesses or testimonies.

I don't understand. Cape Verde is over there and Rio de Janeiro is that
way. What is the priest saying?

I think the rest of the record is typical. Just trying to figure out what
happened with husband #1. Thanks!
