I am looking for expert advice ... I have been tracing my ancestral roots
for six months. Its a work in progress.

I have a relative who's marriage document says he is "exposto", I'm
guessing that means orphaned.

It appears that he might have taken her last name (Silveira) for his own
... He was Francisco Ignacio.

Can someone explain about Santa Se? Was it an orphanage?

Example:

Were some of these children taken in by couples seeking a child? and that
is what is in the left column?

Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

Louie
