John, It was a great guess on my part but I found their ship's records to the U. S. it lists his name as Manuel Cecis Fonseca so maybe this is where he it comes from. I am trying to find him on Passportes. He came from Sao Miguel on the ship Vancouver arriving in Boston May 23, 1903. Any help appreciated as I have a hard time reading these Passportes records. Maybe this will tell us where he was born as the second of the passenger list is missing??? :-(
