This morning, Dick Eastman wrote about the passing of New Bedford librarian
and historian, Paul A. Cyr.

If you ancestors went to southeast Massachusetts, you had to go to the New
Bedford Public Library and talk to Paul. He knew everything! He knew about
the Azoreans, the Madeirans, the Cape Verdeans and anyone else who settled
the area. He knew about the American Portuguese Genealogical and Historical
Association (he lobbied for their book collection, but they housed in
Taunton, closer to the home of one of the founders - today their collection
is a UMass Dartmouth).
