It's a saint's name. Google "saint gaudencio" and read up on all the St. Gaudencios. I would pay particular attention to their birth dates and feast days and cross reference that with your Gaudencio. It won't help you with your genealogy per se, but it might help as what month your guy may have been born in. Or not. Maybe someone prayed to St. Gaudencio because he's the patron saint of _______. Once you know about that, you can save it in case it comes in handy for a history assignment or something!
