In searching birth (baptismal) records we sometimes get a bonus in the
margin notes which gives a date when the person died. I was recording a
marriage of a Maria and needed to look for her birth to be sure I was
attaching her to the correct family. It was easy because I had her marriage
age and the parish she was baptized in. I found it in Jun 1851. When I went
to enter the information in I noticed that I had already entered a Maria who
was born in Jun of 1848 and had a margin note saying she died in 1927. I
thought that strange for two reasons: the unmarried Maria had a death date
and the married one did not and there were two Maria's in the family (not
necessarily a deal breaker).

I decided to look at the obitos starting in Jun of 1848. Then I found the
death of a Maria on 13 Jun 1851 from the family. The second Maria was born
on 19 Jun 1851 just 6 days after the first Maria died. So apparently the
death date of the second Maria was entered in the margin of the first
Maria's baptismal record. I supposed the Priest was in a hurry to finish
with the death entries for the second Maria in 1927 and did not have her
correct age at the time so he entered in on what he thought was the correct
record.

Just another day in the life of a Genealogist.
