Then Margaret is right, St Cruz, Lagoa. Fragoso would have been enough. They originate in Lagoa. And thank you John and Margaret for that info on the Latin equivalent translation on Porto dos Carneiros, which I have seen often. I do believe Porto dos Carneiros is part of the freguesia of Rosario, Lagoa. In any event, when you get back that far and you can't find your ancestors, it pays to check in both freguesias.
