Thanks. That will help. My problem is that I have 2 Antonio Vieira Lourenco & Maria do Espirito Santo. Which might be the same couple. I need to following siblings now. I have to go through birth records? Marriage records?? Its going to take awhile.

The search function can be hit and miss, though. Alferes is a military rank, and as I understand it, it is a militia officer just below lieutenant.
