(Cross posted to Azores, Madeira, and IslandRoutes) Just a reminder that new statistics are going to be compiled for the Shared CentiMorgan Project. The current deadline for this round is June 30th.
I had a Word Document open and my genealogy program. In Word, I noted down that I submitted from my dad's account, to his matches (and I listed their names). I had my genealogy program do the relationship between my dad and his match, and I submitted that in the Notes section so Blaine knows it's true endogamy and not someone misinterpreting the questions. Then I let the match know (so they wouldn't turn around and submit it a 2nd time). Why is this important? So we have real data from our population represented in the sample. Hopefully, many of you will submit so we get better data to work with. Here is the original post: Blaine Bettinger, author and DNA blogger, is asking for submissions for the Shared CentiMorgan Project. It works like this: For the DNA matches you have identified as your cousins (or the cousins you have recruited), you go to the link below and answer the 8 questions. It would be great if we could get as many people to contribute live data for Blaine to work with for endogamous populations. If I were filling it out and using my cousin, Altino Demelo, I'd answer the questions, mark the relationship as endogamous, in the notes section state that the relationship is 2C twice and 3C twice. Then I'd tell Altino NOT to report it to Blaine (duplicate data). Then I'd move on to my next match. This is an ongoing thing, however Blaine is going to republish his findings after June 30th. So submit your info before then to be included in this round. And be sure to let your cousin know you submitted them.
