JR, the marriage is of *Manuel Luiz *(as he is known is subsequent documents and the only family name I knew of until I started researching), son of Luis de Costa Caixihno and Umbelina Thomazina de Jesus (de Costa Pires) to *Maria do Carmo* (Martins / dosSantos) on *4 February 1856 at Nossa Senhora do Rosario in Lagoa*. The desendents in my family go by Luiz so finding the de Costa surname was surprising but it appears to clear up a lot. Any info is greatly appreciated.
