I visited the library & archives when I was in Terceira last week... the lady in the archives said that everything they have is also available online... I was looking for more details about my ancestors' lives besides birth' marriage & death dates... so I looked thru the newspapers of 1958 until I realized Portugal was under the dictatorship of Salazar & the news was censored... the newspaper was full of "fluff" stories... there were no crimes stories... no stories about what was happening in the small villages on the island...
I'm wondering what other documents I should have asked to see that would have had details about the people's lives... I'm hoping to return next year so I thought I should start making notes of what I want to research while it's fresh in my mind... any suggestions is greatly appreciated...
