Donna W,

It's really user preference. Just because many didn't like the FTM 2016
format doesn't mean you won't like it. You may very well find that it suits
your needs.

Those who love Legacy are going to tell you why it's great. And a few
people will tell you why they think FTM is great. Or RootsMagic.

I have a lecture that I give about genealogy software. All are pretty
similar. What's easy for you may not be easy for another, so most fans
posting about Legacy will tell you it's easy to use. It reads directly from
TMG and PAF (those programs are no longer published). For FTM, you'd have
to Gedcom it over, as it doesn't directly read.

No, Legacy doens't sync with Ancestry.com, but it syncs with FamilySearch.
You'd probably have to Gedcom it over to Ancestry. It appears to be an
Ancestry.com thing not being able to work with Legacy:

No, I don't use Legacy. I have it (and RootsMagic) on my computer because
some people can't seem to make a Gedcom, so they send me their file in the
native format and I open it up in Legacy or RM and convert it to Gedcom and
upload it to their DNA page for them.

I'm a TMG Refugee, waiting for the guys in Australia to come up with its
replacement. Will I like it? I don't know. I may wind up with one of the
programs above.
