(Cross posted: Azores, Madeira, Island Routes lists) The Family Finder (autosomal DNA) test is still on sale at Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) for $69 (regularly $89). If you have never ordered from FTDNA, there's a $12.95 S&H fee (includes postage back if you are a U.S. resident).
As more and more people test, some freguesias in the Azores are starting to come into focus. Some areas seem to be more endogamous (intermarried) than others, but this may be due to people recruiting other closer relatives. Time will tell if some areas are more endogamous than others. Since Madeira's population is almost the same as the entire 9 Azores islands archipelago, it's going to take more time in the survey or census mode before you start to get some good clusters going. Encourage your family members to test (even siblings and first cousins). If you know other researchers doing your freguesia, ask them to test. My current hypothesis is that we'll see more with the families who stayed put for a longer time in a freguesia. Some of these may be our collateral lines, so encourage others to test. For those who wanted to transfer, or were confused about transferring...You may have this on your page: [image: Inline image 1] Please contact me directly off list at gfscherim at gmail.com and tell me if you were indeed transferring from AncestyDNA, 23 and Me, etc. Or if you weren't transferring but somehow wound up with the above transfer upload.
