Repost for Kate Kearney, kkearney at nosm.ca I'm wondering what information you might have on the lineage of Manoel Tavares Miranda (b. abt 1622) and Catarina Pires da Covilha (b. 1630. Father is Domingos Pires da Covhila. Mother is Maria de Freitas) both born, I believe, in Santa Cruz, Ilha Graciosa. I'm an descended from their Manuel Tavares Miranda. My understanding is that they were descended from conversos.
