After looking at the many records of Capelo, Faial, I have a much greater
respect for the work that was done to compile the database. Many of the
names in certain historical periods are so interchangeable that it is
difficult not to make mistakes. I have discovered for instance that a name
followed by question mark, indicates the finding is not certain and the
family to which a baptism is ascribed is in doubt. So the best choice was
made followed by the question mark. Another example is for the parents of
Francisco Pereira de Faria, which are Francisco Pereira de Faria and Inacia
Rosa. Should be easy, right? But the record (s) in the database show more
than four options, none exact, and maybe more. It appears the authors
decided not to choose which marriage is the correct one, because of the
similar names in the same time period. It is quite a minefield, in my
opinion. If the dispensations are available, this is the best option IMO.
The July 22- 1833 marriage indicates the couple are related in the fourth
degree.
