Paul, There is absolutely no reason to believe that the husband and wife are from the same village/freguesia. Many immigrants from all over met in America and they were from different places and many were from different countries.
So you only have her death certficate that states she was from Sao Miguel island? By looking at what you wrote, I'm guessing she was born c. 1877 on Sao Miguel and died about 1913. She married in 1895 in a church somewhere in America. That church is called Holy Rosary, but there's probably a couple of hundred of churches named that in America. You need a city and state on that. You need to find her on the 1900 and 1910 censuses. Depending on where that church is located, you may be able to get a scan of the actual book that may give more information. Same thing with the kids' baptisms. The baptism book *might* give more information that the certificate. You can get access to the 1900 and 1910 censuses by going to your local Family History Center (FHC) or local public library and using Ancestry there. Some genealogy societies may have a library with access too. Download the image and save it. It's going to have immigration information on it. You need that. After that, you'll need to turn to DNA. If your mother has any living siblings left, test them first with Family Finder. If she has none, then test yourself. They will have a sale later on in the year. I always post to the list. Order here: https://goo.gl/r7TnP8 Let us know what you find on the censuses.
