Paul, The reason you only have matches showing on the paternal tab is that you have linked a paternal line relationship to your tree. These would be relations that have taken an autosomal (Family Finder) test. You apparently have not linked a person on your maternal side of your tree. What you need to do is link your 3rd cousin once removed. This would mean you have to add the paper connection on your tree to this cousin and then link the relationship. Once you have done this then you will see maternal line matches.

On the paternal tab, I am showing 21 matches with 21 figures with blue background next to said matches. I do have a confirmed maternal match (3rd cousin, 1 time removed), but the maternal tab shows 0 and no figure with a pink background next to this match.
